I'm sorry guys because I have not updated this site since the first game. I have been busy with my wirk and other stuff. Well, thanks you very much for your continuing support to John and the Tigers. We have a lot of reasons to be happy. Aside from beating Purefoods last Friday and having a 2-0 card in the Fiesta Conference, we should also be greatful because Ali Peek has achieved his 5k-point milestone. He was the 55th player to achieve that. And if you can remember, JOHN was the one who passed that ball to Ali. They even hugged each other during the game. So, congratulations to Ali! Let's hope that John will be able to reach that achievement, too. Our import, Anthony Johnson is also doing great as well as our players are gaining more confidence. Of course, John continues to amaze us with his superb basketball skills, his leadership, and heart.

What a way to start the Fiesta Conference!
Until now, I can't forget John's buzzer-beating 3-point shot during the last seconds of the first half. Great job Tigers!

New import shines for Coca-Cola
New import shines for Coca-Cola
Manila Standard - Feb. 24, 2007 by Reuel Vidal
The Coca-Cola Tigers, eager to show they won't be pushovers this coming Talk N Text Philippine Baskestball Association Fiesta Cup, beat the Alaska Aces, 98-96, in a tune-up game at the adidas Sports Kamp last Thursday.
Coca-Cola import Anthony Johnson unloaded 37 big points, including the winning basket, in an auspicious debut for his new team. It was the first practice game for Johnson who was visibly unfamiliar with his teammates as well as the local playing conditions especially the heat and humidity.
"I got off to a rocky start," said Johnson. "But I got more comfortable as the game wore on. I'm used to the rough play, too. I come from Chicago and that's pretty much how we play anyway. It just motivates me to play harder."
The 6'6", reed-thin, do-everything guard played the entire game. He could score only 11 points in the first half but picked up the pace to score 26 markers in the second half.
With the score tied during the last 20 seconds, the Tigers went to Johnson who converted a jumper, despite a double team, as time expired.
"That was a tough shot," said Johnson. "It just happened to go in and I'm thankful for that. I knew the situation coming in. I know they lost a lot of good players. So I'm going to have to do pretty much everything. I'm up for the challenge."
And Johnson will only get better as he becomes more acclimatized to the local playing conditions, said Coca-Cola team manager Allan Caidic
"He's really good," said Caidic. "He's quick, strong and can jump really high. But he probably needs to be a little more aggressive and attack the basket more often rather than just settling for jumpers from the perimeter."
John Arigo and Chris Pacana chipped in 11 points apiece for Coca-Cola. RJ Rizada had 8 points.
